  3. Way to go J.C. Hart! Great to see your pro-active involvement in assisting those with disabilities. Ron, you and Kili are inspiring to watch and your apartment is beautifully appointed. Did you do that too? The sfx are great...someone has a great sense of humor too! Best of luck.

  4. RatMan is the man! I want to live at JC Apartments just to be under the watchful eye of RatMan. He makes me feel safe!

  5. Chief Miller O'Flann in the Ratman video gets the oscar.

  6. RatMan to the rescue! That video is very well made. Very professional with a touch of humor. Good job guys.

  7. Ratman is great... awesome spoof of MTV.

  8. Go Ron and Kili !!! What a cute place you have. Good luck on the contest. Love the racing wheels! HA!

  9. Okay Ratman, what gives?? You gained 5% in an hour. That must be 400 votes by now. How are you cheating?? Besides, your video doesn't make any since....

  10. I want Ron and Kili to win, if he could afford a cleaning service instead of rent, the dog wouldn't have to do the laundry!! LOL!! (Not that there appeared to be much cleaning necessary. He has to be the last tidy man on the planet---I noticed that he even had candles and placemats on the table!)

  12. I thought all the videos were great! Everybody did a really good job. It's great to see so much participation!

I really like the ratman video - very original and well done (and would be my vote for best video). However, I've also been following the votes and everytime ratman gets down (in any of the categories it's nominated in) it shoots right back up super quick. Either Theneck20 has a bunch of super organized friends, or there's something else going on. Is it possible to vote more than once?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm not sure it's fair to pick on Ratman and suggest misconduct without looking at the big picture. Consider the fact that for his video to fall behind significantly enough to catch the eye there was probably a big surge of votes for another candidate.

If there is anything misleading about results, I think we should assume that it is due more than anything to the fallibility of the voting system. Nobody seems to have gotten nasty, which is good to see, but it would be a shame to see an unfair share of doubt cast over one entrant when his product is a legitimate contender on its own merit.

I don't serve to gain anything from this vote (I don't have an entry), but I think the time and effort of all the competitors should be acknowledged and commended. You all showed some very impressive talent and creativity. Hopefully the most deserving and popular favorite wins. I'd feel like a fool if Ratman was wasting his time, in cape and helmet, cheating the system when he should be out defending our streets.

  15. Ratman is by far the best. Great job guys from Mt. Washington.

  16. Ratman has a far and extensive network of loyal followers/compadres. Despite this, he appears to be losing by one percentage point right now.

Fortunately, word of his magical poll persuading powers is spreading through the realm and hordes of followers shall arrive posthaste.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Ratman just has super organized friends. I've emailed everyone I know and I know several of them have done the same. As well as sharing it with our social networks and making sure everyone votes. I'm in Arizona and he is Indiana. So its getting around. Are you ready for the oh snap.

Have you ever thought that his video is just the best? Word.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Are the Super Organized Friends kind of like the Justice League?

    ReplyDelete
  19. How about Ratman has a ton of friends who love his video? I don't think any of those boys would waste their time trying to "cheat" in order to win free rent.

  20. Ron and Kili are the greatest!! Ron should be an inspirational speaker.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ratman's video is boss.

  22. Way to go Ron & Kili, long may you both continue. I love the laundry dog and wish I had one.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Ron has the best video and is the most deserving.

  24. This contest has been a lot of fun....we really had fun making the video. I really hope the best video wins. Ron really knows how to get around with his hoveround. Veronica plays a mean piano. That baby is ready for e-trade. The teacher has a nice delivery; I wish he was my teacher in high school. I’m obviously biased and pulling for ratman...however, I’m really glad we had this opportunity. I wish you all the best.

  25. Just found this site and have voted, I just Love Ron and Kili, now HOW do I train my 2 Dogs to do the Housework...Go Kili !

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ron has a really interesting story, but from a best overall perspective, the Ratman is obviously the best. HELLO PEOPLE!?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Looks like Kili found a way to vote more than once....HE IS A SMART DOG!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Agreed Kurt. Kili also found out how to post multiple comments in his favor under the alias 'Anonymous'.

Thanks for the support Bill Bod!

  29. I'd like to see Ron and Kili win---you can't help buy admire the fact that someone from this generation and in his position even has the spirit to tackle a project involving something like this---most of the people we know around this age (or younger!) are too intimidated by technology or computers to even consider participation. I see something like this, and I think WOW...this man sets an example that even people without a handicap can follow. It's inspiring to me at half his age, and J.C Hart gets a high mark from my perspective for supporting people in ways that clearly make it possible to remain independent and as spirited as this gentleman. I enjoyed ALL of the videos-- everyone really did make a great job and I didn't feel like I wasted my time watching any of them--- but I really hope Ron and Kili make the news. A feel-good story like this would be good for a change!

  30. There had to be something going on behind the scenes. This was not a fair contest. I am disappointed in jc hart.

    ReplyDelete
  31. These videos have been a blast to watch! It's great to see how creative JC Hart residents are.

Anonymous, what is unfair about this contest? I think the best videos are represented here. I'm surprised to see the Bayshore video not get a nod for best overall, but I'm sure the judges had a difficult time narrowing it down to only 5 finalists.

You're not going to make everybody happy with a contest, but I think its still great that they had one in the first place. I've heard of nowhere else giving their residents a chance to win free rent for a year. My hope is that they do another one. I've got my next video idea all lined up. JC Hart are you listening? :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. There are some really good videos represented here. I'm ecstatic that mine was nominated for two awards, even if one of them isn't best overall. How can one be disappointed with JC Hart when they are giving away thousands of dollars to their residents? I'm super happy I chose to live at Bayshore.

    PS
I love reading the comments on here.
    Go Ratman.

  35. Hey great vidoes everyone! I enjoyed watching them all! My favorite is the baby "chatting". She is so cute and the pictures make the place look so great. I went to the youtube site first and it has now been viewed almost 6,000 times!!! WOW! Go Redbirdsfan01! That is some great advertising for Austin Springs!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Nice video by the way Kyle! I'm really surprised you aren't in this category. Do you have any other animated videos you produced?

    ReplyDelete
  37. MissionaryV's video is artistic and clearly shows the joy she and other's can have living in the jchart property! What a creative and carefully prepared video. Everything's original: the music, the art, the whole idea that as unique as we each are--we can express that in the jchart properties!

    ReplyDelete
  38. No, Stain. That was my first video ever of any kind. I figured I'd do something no one else would try and hope that would make up for my complete lack of experience. And I guess it sorta did. I might do another in the future, but that first one burnt me out.

Anyway, I seriously gave you guys like 50 views. I couldn't stop watching your video, and I hated myself for it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Best of luck Redbirdsfan01. If I were looking for an apartment, you would have me SOLD on Austin Springs! Good advertisement for the facilities, apartments--even the garage! Cute sunglasses--just cute overall! Love this video!

  43. I am a friend of Ron's and he truly is as inspirational as he appears in his video. To answer some of your questions- Yes, he did at least direct the decorating of his apartment with labor contributed by friends and relatives for the tasks he was unable to do himself. Yes, he does maintain it himself-with Kili's help and he is the cleanest/neatest man I have ever met. No, Kili doesn't do windows. (Nobody asked that, but I thought I'd throw that in.) She does, however assist Ron in many other ways as she is a trained service dog and responds to more words/commands than most teenagers I know! Way to go, Ron! Luv Ya! (F.)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Kili was trained by a 12 year old young man as a 4-H project in Ohio. This young man's patience qualified Kili to be accepted and she completed the rigorous training as a K-9 disability dog. The next step was to find an acceptable disabled person to be compatible with her personality. Enter Ron. That is not the end of the story...enter Bay Shore Apartments and J. C. Hart community who was able to match Ron and Kili up with a beautiful apartment that completed their living needs and allowed Kili and Ron to move forward to their life of independent living. Kili may not do windows; but she does pick up things off the floor, opens doors for Ron at shopping malls, pays the associates waiting for her change to be returned to her. Mega thanks to the teenagers that helped make this video, J.C. Hart, the 12 year old whose training skills are evident in Kili. Ron and Kili's perserverance in life's struggles have already made them a winner regardless of the final picks. So much talent has been displayed in the creation of all of these videos.Cheering for Ron and Kili.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Ron shouldn't win because he is disabled and has a smart dog. He should win because his video is the best. And it just isn't.

    ReplyDelete

Ron's appartment is decorated very nice and is very tiddy. I think it is great that he and Kili have the opportunity to live independently in such a nice apartment complex! I love the sound effects on the video!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. In response to the Anonymous blog on 3/18/09 regarding Ron winning because he is disabled and has a smart dog . . . The rules clearly state that residents need to make a video of why they think Bayshore is a great place to live. Ron did just that by showing why Bayshore is so great for him as a man living with a disability and why it's great for his service dog, Kili. It was a great video and one that should inspire others with disabilities and anyone else. Ron is an extremely independent man & Bayshore just makes his life that much easier. I would think that is just the kind of promotion Bayshore would appreciate.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I just think that the Austin Springs baby is the BEST!!! She is too cute and the video shows the apartment complex in a beautiful light. What a great place for a young family!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Whoa, I feel like I have had Ron and Kili aggressively promoted up to my eyeballs. Chill out because I don't think anyone EVER said Ron was not a worthy human being. The comments that I read are mostly talking about some videos containing more creativity and production skill. We all know that our opinions are by nature, subjective, and it is pointless to try to make people feel rotten for not agreeing that Ron's video is the most worthy to win . Ron has already won in my opinion to have someone who believes in him as much as you do "anonymous".

    ReplyDelete
  50. I was one of the trainers who worked with Ron and Kili several years ago. Ron's spirit, drive and determination made a positive imact on me and has evolved into a special friendship. Many able bodied individuals do not have half the spunk, personality, or desire to help themselves as Ron does. That's why I am so proud of Ron and Kili, living in this great apartment that is so perfect for them. Bay Shore and J.C. Hart Community have done what few other apartment complexes have failed to do - to make the rooms and appliances accessible to wheelchair users and allow them to continue to live with dignity and independence. Whatever Ron finds difficult to do himself, Kili is there to assist him. I think Ron is a great example for others who don't have total mobility to show that they 'can' live independent lives at Bayshore. It's great to know that others are in your corner. I think Ron and Kili should win because of what they have overcome in the past and the bright future that awaits them. To know Ron is to understand what he goes through daily, with a smile and a good work for everyone. Ron has never used his disability to get ahead, has never tried to gain sympathy and has always found a way to accomplish his goals. Kili is Ron's much loved and high valued partner who assists him with daily living. I agree that whatever the decision, Ron and Kili are already winners in my book.

  51. Eagle Eye Eva said: Doc...sorry about your eyeballs. Your pseudo attempt at reverse psychology has not been lost on me and very clever of you. However, are you saying that because a finalist does not merit your perception of creativity or production skills that they should not be allowed to enter an amateur contest? Hasn't the final entries already been deemed to be worthy by the preliminary judging?

Ron & Kili's video is worthy of the win because it does show creativity (heart, determination, and perservance), production skills....the teenagers did an excellent job in competing with those who perhaps have professional skills.

All of the finalist have put their best effort forward and done a magnificent job. They are all to be congratulated.

By the way, I too shall be heading this with the many "anonymous" gone before me in support of Ron and Kili.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I love Ron and Kili. I have a dog that looks just like Kili but mine eats my furniture. I still love him but helping around the house would be better.
Ron has such a love of life and an pure soul. I hope I am enjoying my life at his age. Hang on I don't enjoy it that much yet but I can hope.
    Karen.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ron IS a great person and his dog, Kili, IS a wonderful helper, I give, you've convinced me. He is allowed to enter any contest that he so desires. Unfortunately, I still did not vote for his video. I wish him good luck though. (No pseudo attempt at reverse psychology intended, by the way).

    ReplyDelete
  54. Heart, determination, and perseverance are not synonymous with creativity. Doc Bob, thanks for bringing some rationality to this page.

Because it does sound a little harsh and insensitive now that I look at it, let me edit my previous statement that "Ron shouldn't win because he is disabled and has a smart dog."

Ron shouldn't win because he is independent and has shown an ability to "overcome in the past." He should win because his video is the best. And it still isn't.

-PSEUDO ATTEMPT AT REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY ALERT-
Not that Ron does not possess many admirable qualities as an individual, because he does. He seems like a great guy, with a great dog (a lot more useful than my dog). I just think that a few other videos up there are better overall. And I don't think any of these are professional. They're just good.

Whoever wins, good for them. I'm sure it'll help them a great deal financially. If Ron wins, what do the kids that made his video get out of it? Hopefully some extra dolla dolla bills in their birthday cards this year..

    ReplyDelete
  55. So, Awesome X, things are only rational if they agree with your view point? And, if the others win? Or, could it be that the teens have given you some great competition. In my opinion, Ron's vidoe should win because they do show great creative ability and humor. You and I simply disagree on the meaning of creativity. J.C. Hart/Bayshore have given their residents an awesome oppportunity and they are absolutely tops in being the winners of creativity.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hey Anonymous, are things only rational when they agree with YOUR viewpoint? Man, I had a deja vu experience after reading your response that took me back to middle school. You two better agree to disagree. May the best video win!!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. HDP said....So, Awesome X, you do not consider heart, determination, and perserverance to be synonymous with CREATIVITY. How interesting!!! I suppose that you then would consider that heart, determination, and perserverance were not synonymous, nor needed for Our Founding Fathers of this great nation, to use their CREATITVY to CREATE the United States Constitution, Bill of Rights, and help CREATE the United States Of America. I still applaud these attributes, heart, determination, and perserverance, and do believe they are synonymous in helping any individual to be CREATIVE. I consider them to be necessary and vital to help any individual to dare to be CREATIVE; and to SEEK to live their life to the best of their ability, to enjoy life.

  60. To bad when a 'fun' thing becomes so competitive - how do you judge a professional vs an amatuer? Marketing is a 'business' and I guess what it comes down to is that the heart of the matter is just that - the "heart of the matter. Let's don't sling mud!! We all have ideals - let's keep those ideals high. Remember, we're not the FINAL JUDGE and after all is said and done HE will be the one who has the FINAL SAY - so stop slinging mud and continue with a courteous and friendly contest.
    God bless! - all

  61. Are you saying God is on the panel of judges?

    ReplyDelete
  62. I agree with the last post. GO RAT KILI MAN!

    ReplyDelete
  63. My brothers and I are responsible for the Ratman piece which has somehow been the keystone in various controversies along the way. Looking back, I’d say some of the highlights have been:

Watching my 6’3” 240 brother dress up as a giant Rat.

Freezing my rear off while filming in horizontal snow.

Being accused of cheating during the first week of voting.

Making Dad put on his FBI hat and practice his lines.

Having a guy I haven’t seen since High School recognize me as Donnigan Herschizer.

Being honored as one of top 5 videos.

Watching complete strangers argue of the “essence” of creativity.

To me; the sum of these aforementioned experiences (most of them) are reward enough. I’ve found it amusing to watch people break down this competition with “Zapruder film–eque” exactitude. I don’t think we ever took it that seriously; hence the 6’3” rat. I guess the point of all this prattle is to make sure we all have the correct perspective. I implore us all to deflate our proverbial “internet muscles” and concentrate more on the positives of each offering. May the best Rat/Dog/Baby/Human win.

  64. RON & KILI Loved your video. It shows your apartment and such a nice layout. I wish you lot of luck & votes.
    Fellow Manual Grad. 1951

    ReplyDelete
  65. OK, finally figured out how people are cheating. If you make a link on your facebook page and click on that link it will let you vote again and again. However, I've voted over 200 times and it hasn't raised one percentage point. In other words, some of these people have received well more than 3-4 times as many votes as they have people who have actually viewed there videos. Something is not adding up.
    ???

    ReplyDelete
  66. Either something is not adding up or what your saying actually doesn't work. Either way it's not the end of the world because the judges have the final say anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Besides, why are you so convinced that people are cheating? It's abundantly obvious that Ron and Rat have a lot of support. I don't see how using a loophole in facebook would work anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  68. You don't have to view the video to vote for the video. Just put the link out there and say vote for _______.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Ideally, every voter would view all five videos before voting, but obviously that doesn't happen. However, as for the claim that some have more votes than views, I can at least say that as of right now, Ron & Kili have less than half as many votes as they have views (the total number of votes is available online).

    ReplyDelete
  70. There have been a lot of 70 year olds contacting their friends all across the World to vote for Ron. None of them have anything to do with Facebook or the other young people sites. Ron's high school has a very active web site for Kids of the 1950's who have been active in voting for Ron. The reason for all that support is that Ron had polio in high school and is now confined to a wheel chair needing a care dog to help him. He has an extremely positive attitude, irrespective of the hand he was dealt healthwise. He is an extremely deserving individual - and his video is well done. Hope the judges keep in mind the reasons why Ron has so much support.

    ReplyDelete
  71. OMG! And not just because you were so encouraging the other day, but in the name of all that is good, and really because I just viewed 8+ minutes of visual detritus from the other “contestants,” you MUST WIN. In those eight minutes, I heard horrible hip-hop, I witnessed sickening stereotyping, I was emotionally manipulated, and I viewed video plagiarism! Win for the free rent, the covered parking, the luxurious living, win for the ducks and geese if you must, but PLEASE win for the sake of real creativity!!!!!!!!!

I tried to vote for you lots of times, but the cyber-“man” wouldn’t let me...

  72. Missionary V's Vid is best of the bunch!
    Commercial ready, very catchy!

    ReplyDelete
  73. PEOPLE, are you serious? The only video on here that is cool and sweet and, quite frankly, the only one that actually makes me want to live at one of these J.C. Hart communities is the one by Missionary V. It's professional and could actually be used as a REAL commercial. Pick that one to win!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Loved the quick shots and the music in Vanessa's video. (MissionaryV). Your place looks cmfy cozy!

    ReplyDelete
  75. I really like Ron's video, but my absolute favorite is Vanessa's!! Wow-- love, love, love everything about it, but especially the message that I don't have to give up who I am to live at Ashley Place. Way to go V!!!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Wow, Vanessa...are you a professional or something? So creative!! You deserve to win!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Are these votes rigged or something? MissionaryV's video is by far the most professional one on here.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I don't think the voting is working anymore either. It's a shame because MissionaryV's video should be at the top due to it's artistry and creativity. It is the video that will sell apartments!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Wow, people seem to be getting really passionate about this video contest. I'm sure we all did the best we could to make our video as cool as possible.

My hope for this video was to create something original. I really tried to follow the direction to the 't'. I wanted to connect with a broad range of people and to present JCHART in an inviting and interesting way. I wanted to produce a short video that would make people want to find out more about the apartment and go the JCHART website. Something that you might see on tv or online. No, I'm not a professional, but I do enjoy creating! Even if someone looking for an apartment isn't a painter or a musician, we all have a creative part to us. I think my video connects with everyone in some way.

I do hope to win, a years worth of free rent would be an enormous help, but I'd like to wish the best of luck to all my fellow contestants.

    Good luck everyone!

    Vanessa
